Introducing the Chief Instructors
Teaching at the International Wing Chun Academy is overseen by a panel of eight Chief Instructors who are among the world’s leading exponents of Wing Chun Kung Fu.
The Chief Instructors’ role is to ensure that the authenticity of Grandmaster Jim Fung’s unique training programme is preserved and the Academy’s high teaching standards are upheld.
They were assigned this role following consultations between the Fung family and Sigung Chu Shong Tin after Grandmaster Fung passed away in March, 2007. Grandmaster Fung’s instructors and students united in a show of loyalty to keep his school alive.
The Chief Instructors spent up to 34 years training under Grandmaster Fung.
Their training continues under the guidance of Sigung Chu, official Father of the International Wing Chun Academy, who has made the extraordinary commitment of furthering their skills in personal training sessions both in Australia and at his school in Hong Kong.
In turn, the Chief Instructors continue to pass on their knowledge through training sessions with the Academy’s other instructors and in regular workshops and training camps open to all Academy students.
All of the Chief Instructors are permanent members of and recognised Instructors under the Hong Kong Ving Tsun Athletic Association (VTAA).
